Sending Faxes
Chapter 7
Sending Methods
This section describes the methods and advantages of the two main sending methods:
Memory sending and Manual sending.
Memory Sending
Memory sending is a quick and easy way to send a document. The copier/fax scans
the document into its memory, and as the first page of a multipage document is being
scanned, the unit begins calling the other party and transmitting the information even
as the remaining pages are being scanned.
Since the copier/fax is multitasking, you can even scan a document into memory while
sending another document, receiving a document, or while the copier/fax is
automatically printing a report.
The copier/fax has enough memory to store up to 42 pages* (fewer if the document
contains many graphics or particularly dense text).
Follow this procedure for memory sending:
1
Adjust the document feed lever for the
document you are loading. (
2
p. 4-2)
2
Prepare the document and load it, face
Ex:
down, in the ADF (Automatic Document
Feeder). (
2
p. 4-3)
(Currently used memory)
• For color sending, press Color/B&W to
turn on its light. (
1
p. 7-2)
• To adjust the resolution and contrast,
(Standby to scan)
see pp. 7-2, 7-4.
• You may not be able to use memory sending if
the percentage shown in the LCD is close to
100%
. Use manual sending instead. (
1
p. 7-7)
3
Dial the other party’s fax number.
Ex:
• For dialing methods, see p. 7-5.
• If you enter the wrong number, press Stop,
then enter the correct number.
• If you must first dial a digit to get an outside
line (“9”, for example), add a pause after that
digit by pressing Redial/Pause, as shown in
the LCD on the right.
