The Buster Cabin's stopcocks are in the aft corners of the boat and they can be
accessed via the maintenance hatches in the aft corners of the cockpit. The Buster
Cabin's fore cockpit does not have stopcocks because the floor level is so high that
it is always above the water level when the boat is in normal use.
Valves are used on the Buster Cabin, XLe, and Le. The Buster Mini uses Easy Bail
valves. Other Buster models use removable blanking plugs.
The drain holes must be closed if the boat begins to take on water during loading. In
all other circumstances the drain holes must be open. Make sure that you regularly
remove any waste that has become lodged in the drain holes to prevent blockages.
The cockpits of the Buster M and Mcc only enable rainwater to run off when the
boats are not loaded. The drain holes should be closed when boarding the boat.
Water flows from the cockpit of the Buster S, Scc, XS, XSr, and Mini into the bilge,
from which it can be removed using the bilge pump (Buster S, Scc, XS, and XSr).
The Buster Mini's bilge water is to be emptied using a bailer or dynamic drainage
(see section 5.6.2 (Bilge pumps and draining)).
With the exception of the Mini, all Buster models have a threaded stopper at the
lower corner of the transom, which can be unscrewed to allow the boat to be
drained in dock or on a trailer.
5.6.2 Bilge pumps and draining
The locations of draining equipment are shown in Appendix 1, Figure 2.
Bilge pumps or the ends of suction tubes are located as close to the baseboard as
possible. It is, however, natural that the bilge always contains a small quantity of
water that the bilge pump cannot remove.
The Buster Magnum M5, Magnum Pro, SuperMagnum, Magnum, Cabin, XXL, XSr,
and XS are equipped with a single manual bilge pump. When the bilge pumps are
used at a rate of 45 rpm, the draining capacity of the Magnum M5, Magnum Pro,
SuperMagnum, Magnum, Cabin, and XXL is 22 l/min, and the XS has a draining
capacity of 18 l/min. The bilge pump's detachable lever is located in a plastic holder
next to the pump. It may also be possible to pull the lever out from the side of the
deck. The lever on the XS pump is not detachable.
The Buster Magnum M5, Magnum Pro, SuperMagnum, Magnum, Cabin, XXL, XL,
XL Pro, XLe Convertible, XLe, X, Le, Lx, L Pro, L, M, Mcc, S, Scc, and XSr are
equipped with automatic electric bilge pumps. The automatic bilge pump drains
water from the bilge when the surface sensor detects water. The capacity of the
electric bilge pump is approximately 38 litres per minute. The automatic bilge pump
is always on standby when the battery is attached, regardless of the position of the
main switch. The automatic bilge pump activates when the sensor has been fully
submerged for 10 seconds. It deactivates when the sensor has been dry for more
than two seconds. The pump can also be activated manually via a separate switch.
Both the electric and manual bilge pumps should have their suction heads regularly
inspected and cleaned of any waste. The pump can be accessed through the
service hatch in the engine pit. The pump on the Cabin can be accessed via the
maintenance hatch at the stern of the boat.
