9.1 Adjusting the Tiller for work.
Adjustment Instructions
Tiller depth of till is regulated by adjusting skids up or down. Average ground with reasonable moisture content
will allow maximum depth in one pass with a ground speed between 2 and 5 mph operating the PTO speed at
540 RPM. Hard ground may require two passes to reach maximum depth.
The machine is equipped with an adjustable tailgate. The tailgate will regulate the finished results or tilth of the
soil.
Traveling at the slowest forward speed with the tailgate fully lowered will give the finest possible finish. The
fully lowered adjustment is good for mulching, mixing and burying weeds, fertilizer, etc.
The more you increase the forward speed and tailgate height, the coarser the finished results will be. To leave
the ground surface rough with larger clods and residue exposed, work with tailgate fully raised. When working
in rocky soil always have the tailgate raised.
Tailgate Adjustment
Position the tailgate to its desired opening by fitting the bolts into the appropriate holes of the adjustment flange
located on the top of the main frame. To adjust the degree of tension, tighten or loosen up on the 24mm nut on
the top of the spring support rod..
*
DO NOT back up
with the tailgate in the down position while the tiller is in the operating
position.
RAISE the tiller
off the ground so the tailgate clears the ground. Failure to do so
will cause damage to the tailgate and tiller and possible injury to the operator.
9.2 Operating the Tiller
Operating Instructions
1.
Before each use perform the maintenance described in maintenance section of this manual.
2.
Read, understand, and follow the safety information on training, preparation, starting and stopping,
operation, transportation, maintenance and storage.
3.
With the tiller positioned on level ground, adjust the tractor arms so that when lifted, the rotor bar remains
parallel to the ground.
4.
With the tiller attached to the tractor, raise and support the tiller with suitable blocks. Adjust the skids,
located on the sides of the tiller. The adjustment bolts for both right and left sides should be positioned in
the same adjustment hole. This allows the tiller to till the same depth on each side. Adjust the tailgate,
until the desired mulching effect is achieved.
