Noise emission
Refer to the table “Technical data” for permissible noise levels in free
field conditions according to EN ISO 2151.
CAUTION
The sound level of the vacuum pump within a certain perimeter of
the pump is high.
Risk of hearing damage.
Users who are spending a longer period of time in the vicinity of a
non-insulated vacuum pump must wear suitable ear protection.
Safety area
Before any maintenance action, ensure a safety perimeter of at least
1 [m] around the pump.
Stopping procedure for maintenance
l
Apply an inlet pressure between atmospheric pressure and 650 hPa
(abs.) in order to guarantee that the outlet gas temperature does
not exceed 80°C.
l
Close the injection of cooling liquid (INJ) in the cylinder
u
Let the vacuum pump run for 1 minute
l
Stop the vacuum pump
l
Close the cooling liquid supply (CL)
l
Switch off power supply (the vacuum pump must be fully discon-
nected from any power supply)
l
Put up label or warning board “Maintenance in progress” on or
next to the pump.
Start-up procedure after maintenance
l
Remove label or warning board “Maintenance in progress”
l
Check oil level according to the chapters “Checking the oil level”
l
Switch on power supply (the vacuum pump must be connected to
the power supply)
l
Check that the “Installation prerequisites” are observed
l
Open the cooling liquid supply (CL)
u
Adjust the flow rate to 12 l/min
l
Start the vacuum pump
l
Open the injection of cooling liquid in the cylinder (INJ)
u
With the pump operating at 60 Hz/3600 rpm and an inlet
pressure < 100 mbar. Adjust the cooling liquid flow rate to
6 l/min or a quantity sufficient to ensure an exhaust gas outlet
temperature <80°C
l
Check the exhaust gas outlet temperature <80°C
l
If the vacuum pump is equipped with a solenoid valve at the inlet:
u
Open the solenoid valve
l
If the vacuum pump is equipped with a shut-off valve at the inlet:
u
Open the shut-off valve
Transport
The COBRA vacuum pumps are tested and checked in our factory
before careful packing. Check the packaging for transport damage
when the goods arrive. The pump can withstand temperatures
between -25°C and +55°C during transport.
Transportation of packaged pump
Packed on a pallet, the vacuum pump can be transported with a
forklift.
Transport in unpacked state
The vacuum pump is bolted to a pallet or a base plate:
u
Remove the bolts between the vacuum pump and the pallet or
base plate
CAUTION
Do not walk, work or stand under suspended loads.
CAUTION
Please check out the weight of the vacuum pump before lifting it up
(see “Technical Data”).
Use adequate lifting gear for this.
NOTE
: The eyebolts are not used to lift the vacuum pump from the
packing. The vacuum pump must be lifted by the base frame (with a
forklift or belts).
l
Attach belts securely to the base frame
l
Use lifting gear with a crane hook equipped with safety latch.
l
Lift the vacuum pump
In case the vacuum pump was bolted to a pallet with fixing bolts:
u
Unscrew the fixing bolts in the base frame
CAUTION
Once filled with oil, the vacuum pump cannot be lifted anymore.
Prior to every transport, make sure that the oil has been drained from
the vacuum pump
The packaging material must be disposed of in accordance with local
and national regulations.
This operating instructions is part of the delivery package.
Storage
Short-term Storage
l
Make sure that the inlet/ discharge connections are closed (leave
the provided plugs in the pump)
l
Store the vacuum pump
–
if possible in its original packaging,
–
indoors,
–
dry,
–
in a dust free room and
–
free from vibrations
Removal from storage
Before starting up a vacuum pump that has been stored outside the
building for a while, the vacuum pump must be moved to a room with
ambient temperature, where it should rest for a day.
Conservation
In case of adverse ambient conditions (e.g. aggressive atmosphere,
frequent temperature changes) conserve the vacuum pump
immediately.
In case of favourable ambient conditions conserve the vacuum pump if
a storage of more than 3 months is anticipated.
l
Make sure that all openings are hermetically sealed; use adhesive
tape to fasten loose parts (such as o-rings, flat seals, etc.).
