Assembly instructions for the motor

Before fitting the motor, the coupling must be fitted between the
motor and the vacuum pump. Please follow the installation instructions
for the coupling. Regarding the explosion protection, the coupling
must have at least the same protection class as the vacuum pump for
the outside category ("outside" (o)). Please refer to the nameplate of
the pump. A higher protection level, for example for explosion group
or temperature class, can also be used. Only genuine Busch couplings
can be used.

When fitting or replacing the drive motor observe the assembly
procedure for the coupling.

WARNING

Prior to fitting the coupling, it is imperative that the coupling ma-
nufacturer’s operating instructions are read and understood. If in
any doubt, please contact your local Busch representative or
consult the coupling manufacturer’s internet site: www.sami-
flex.com.

CAUTION

During assembly of the coupling, make sure that value E is adhered
to.

When value E is not followed, the coupling can be damaged.

CAUTION

Regarding the ATEX explosion protection, the motor must have at
least the same protection class as the vacuum pump for the outside
category ("outside" (o)) and must support the ambient temperature
at least equal to that permitted for the vacuum pump. Check the
correspondance of the motor nameplate with the vacuum pump
nameplate.

Coupling

Samiflex A4

Axial displacement

When fitting/ replacing the motor or during maintenance of the
coupling, assembly tolerances have to be respected in order to prevent
axial displacement.

l

Fit the coupling hubs onto the respective shafts of the vacuum
pump and the drive motor

l

Axially move the unit motor/ coupling hub in such a way until the
axial distance between the coupling halves = 3.5 mm (see
"COBRA ATEX catalogue")

If the unit motor/ coupling hub is already fitted:

u

Move the coupling hubs on the shafts in order to reach value E
(see "COBRA ATEX catalogue")

l

Lock the coupling hubs by tightening the set screws

u

Tightening torque: 10 Nm

Coupling alignment

The recommended radial and angular displacement/ alignment
limitations for the AC 1000 F VR pump/ coupling alignment should not
exceed 0.01 mm in any direction.

Electrical connection

WARNING

Risk of electrical shock, risk of damage to equipment.

Electrical installation work must only be executed by qualified per-
sonnel that knows and observes the following regulations:
- IEC 364 or CENELEC HD 384 or DIN VDE 0100, respectively,
- IEC-Report 664 or DIN VDE 0110,
- VBG 4 or corresponding national accident prevention regulation.

CAUTION

The connection schemes given below are typical. Specific orders or
deviating connection schemes for certain markets may apply.

Risk of damage to the drive motor!

Please check drive motor connections inside the terminal box and
refer to the drive motor connection instructions.

l

Connect the drive motor electrically

l

Connect the earth line

l

Two earth connections are also available on the pump base frame,
diameter: 10.5 mm

Delta connection (Low voltage):

Star connection (High voltage):

CAUTION

Operation of the pump in the wrong direction of rotation, even for
a short period of time, can destroy the vacuum pump.

Prior to starting-up of the vacuum pump, please ensure that the va-
cuum pump is connected up correctly.

l

Determine the direction of rotation with the arrow sign on the fan
cover of the motor

l

Press the start button and hold briefly

l

Watch the fan of the drive motor and determine the direction of
rotation just before the fan stops
