If the fan is turning in the wrong direction:
u
Switch around any two of the drive motor wires in the terminal
box
Connecting up of lines/ pipes
l
Connect the suction line
l
Connect the discharge line
l
Make sure that all provided covers, guards, hoods etc. are fitted
Filling up with oil
The COBRA vacuum pumps are always delivered without oil (see
chapter “Oil Type” for information on recommended oils).
NOTE
: The quantities of oil are different between the quantity
indicated for the motor side (A) and the quantity indicated for the inlet
side (B). Respect the values indicated in the table “Oil quantity”.
NOTE
: The procedure of filling up with oil is identical for both sides. It
will be described in this operating instructions only for a single side.
Please repeat the following operations for the second side.
l
Prepare the quantity of oil specified in the table “Oil quantity”
NOTE
: The quantity of oil specified in the operating instructions is of
informative nature only. Check the oil level with the help of the various
oil sight glasses (OSG) on the vacuum pump.
CAUTION
Before changing the type of oil, make sure that the new type is
compatible with the old type. If necessary, flush the vacuum pump.
l
Unscrew the oil filler plug (OFP)
l
Fill in oil
l
Make sure that the filling level is on MAX-mark of the oil sight
glasses (OSG)
l
Make sure that the seal ring in the oil filler plug is not damaged,
replace oil filler plug if necessary
l
Fit the oil filler plug and tighten up
l
Before any transport, make sure that the oil has been drained out
of the vacuum pump.
CAUTION
Once filled with oil, the vacuum pump should not be lifted or mo-
ved anymore.
CAUTION
The vacuum pump must remain in a horizontal position once it has
been filled with oil.
Filling in cooling liquid (CL)
The COBRA vacuum pumps are always delivered without cooling
liquid.
NOTE
: Make sure that the cooling liquid corresponds to the conditions
described in the “Installation prerequisites”.
l
Connect the cooling liquid inlet (CLI) and outlet (CLO) connections
l
Open the cooling liquid supply
l
Adjust the cooling liquid flow to 12 l/min
Connection of the injection liquid into the
cylinder (INJ)
NOTE
: Make sure that the injection liquid corresponds to the
conditions described in the “Installation prerequisites”.
l
Connect the connection of the cooling liquid in cylinder (INJ)
l
Start the vacuum pump
l
Open the cooling liquid injection supply
l
Adjust the cooling liquid injection flow to 6 l/min
NOTE
: Before stopping the vacuum pump, close the connection for
injection liquid into the cylinder and run the vacuum pump for another
minute, in order to dry the vacuum pump.
CAUTION
The vacuum pump cannot be run for more than 1-2 minutes wi-
thout injection liquid. The outlet gas temperature measured by the
TSA+/0102 sensor must never exceed the trip value determined in
the "COBRA ATEX catalogue".
Saving the operating parameters
As soon as the vacuum pump is working under normal conditions after
being switched on:
l
Measure the working current of the motor and keep it as reference
value for all future maintenance and repair work

Should the operating conditions of your pump fall outside of the re-
commended parameters as outlined, please contact your local Busch
agency for advice.
