30 Chapter 2. Installation
Enabling Communications with Satellite (ORB or SAT)
This section explains how to enable communications with an ORBCOMM or Inmarsat satellite.
The SDT16-ORB communicates with an ORBCOMM satellite. The SDT16-SAT communicates
with an Inmarsat satellite. Install the items as explained in this enabling communications section
and then complete the remainder of the installation while the Bullhorn unit acquires a
communications link with the satellite.
The NEMA-rated enclosure comes with a metal mounting bracket installed on the back
(Figure 2-2).

The enclosure comes with a pole mounting kit that includes u-bolts (2 each, 1 for the top and 1 for
the bottom metal bracket), pipe brackets (2 each, 1 for the top and 1 for the bottom metal bracket)
and mounting hardware (4 nuts and washers for the u-bolts).
The typical installation is on a free-standing metal pole or pipe using the included
u-bolt kit to attach the enclosure to the pole or pipe (Figure 2-3).
