32 Chapter 2. Installation
Mounting the Enclosure against a Surface (Alternative Installation)
There are two ways to install the enclosure against a surface:

Mounting the Enclosure with Metal Brackets against a Telephone Pole

Mounting the Enclosure with Plastic Brackets against a Flat Surface
Mounting the Enclosure with Metal Brackets against a Telephone Pole
To install NEMA-rated ORB or SAT enclosures against a telephone pole using the pre-installed
metal brackets, complete the following procedure:
1.
Place the enclosure against the telephone pole where you will mount it.
2.
Mark the hole locations for the top and bottom center holes.
3.
Set the enclosure out of the way.
4.
Use a hand drill and a metal, masonry, or wood drilling bit to drill two holes into the
mounting surface where you marked their locations in step
2
, one for the top bracket and
one for the bottom bracket.
5.
Place the enclosure back in place where the holes line up and drive in lag bolts or other
appropriate fasteners to hold the enclosure in place.
6.
Continue with Installing the ORB Antenna or SAT Terminal on page 33.
Mounting the Enclosure with Plastic Brackets against a Flat Surface
To install NEMA-rated ORB or SAT enclosures on a flat surface using the plastic brackets from
the accessory kit, complete the following procedure:
1.
Use a 7/16 wrench to loosen the four (4) bolts securing the metal mounting brackets on
the back of the enclosure, and remove the metal mounting brackets.
2.
Place one of the two plastic mounting brackets (also called flanges) onto the back of the
unit and drive two screws with a slotted screwdriver into the same holes that held the metal
brackets in place. See Figure 2-4.
