Using the System Setup Menus
The System Setup menus allows you to modify default server settings. You can execute this
utility regardless of whether the operating system is installed or not.
Setup stores most setting values in the battery-backed CMOS. The other values are stored in
flash memory. These values come into effect when you boot the server.
The Power-On Self Test (POST) uses these values to set up system hardware. If the values
and hardware are unmatched, POST generates an error message and you must execute
setup to specify correct settings.
Use System Setup menus to view or modify the following server board functions:
•
Processor configuration,
•
Memory configuration,
•
Onboard VGA settings,
•
Serial port configuration,
•
Default CMOS settings.
3.4.1 Starting
Setup
To start Setup during the power-on sequence:
1. Press the power button on the server front control panel.
2. Once the EFI Boot Manager is started, select [Boot Maintenance Menu] and press
Enter.
3. Select
[System Setup] in the [Boot Maintenance Menu] and press Enter. The main
System Setup screen appears. For more details about Setup screens, refer to
Subsection 3.4.4.
