10.4.2 Course of a Charging Process
INFORMATION
By using the BRUSA NLG513 charger, along with being able to control via the CAN, you can also
programme charging profiles using the software
ChargeStar
.
The following charging profile provides an example of this.
Phase 1 (I
1
and U
1
)
The charging process begins in this phase with constant current (if voltage < U
1
and the charger provides this
current). The transition into phase U
1
takes place when the defined voltage U
1
is reached. Now the voltage is
held constantly at U
1
by reducing the charging current. This stage is referred to as
Main Charging
.
Phase 2 (I
2
and U
2
)
The transition into stage 2 can take place as early as phase I
1
or U
1
due to one or more conditions. In stage 2
the voltage level U
2
is usually larger and the current level I
2
is usually smaller than in stage 1. This stage is
referred to as
Equalisation Charge
.
Phase 3
The switch to stage 3 then takes place when certain requirements are fulfilled. In stage 3 both the voltage
level U
3
and the current level I
3
are usually smaller than in stage 1. Stage 3 is referred to as
Trickle Charging
.
