IF THE RECOMMENDED XPS
ENGINE OIL IS NOT AVAILABLE
Use a 4-stroke SAE engine oil
meeting or exceeding the following
lubricant industry specifications.
Always check the API service label
certification on the oil container, it must
contain at least one of the indicated
standards.
– API service classification SJ, SL,
SM or SN
Engine Oil Change
CAUTION
The engine oil can
be very hot. Wait until engine oil is
warm.
NOTICE
Engine oil and oil filter
must be replaced at the same time.
Bring engine to its normal operating
temperature.
Ensure vehicle is on a level surface.
Remove dipstick.
Clean the oil drain plug area.
Place a drain pan under the oil drain
plug area.
Unscrew oil drain plug.

1. Drain plug
Allow enough time for oil to flow out of
oil filter.
Replace the oil filter. Refer to
OIL FIL-
TER
in this section.
Change gasket on oil drain plug.
Clean gasket area on engine and oil
drain plug then reinstall plug.
Refill engine at the proper level with
the recommended oil.
Refer to
SPECIFICATIONS
for oil ca-
pacity.
Start engine and let idle for a few min-
utes.
Ensure oil filter area and oil drain plug
areas are not leaking.
Stop engine.
Wait a while to allow oil to flow down to
crankcase then check oil level.
Refill as necessary.
Dispose of oil as per your local environ-
mental regulations.

Oil Filter Removal
To reach oil filter, remove the following
parts:
– Seat
– Console
– RH side panel
– RH footrest panel.
1. Clean oil filter area.
2. Remove oil filter cover screws.
3. Remove oil filter cover.
