Polling
All parties involved in polling need to set up their machines to accommodate polling. When someone
polls your MFC to receive a fax, they pay for the call; if you poll someone’s fax machine to receive
a fax, you pay for the call. (See Polling Transmit (Not Available for Colour Fax) in this Chapter.)
Polling Receive
Secure Polling
Secure Polling is a way to keep your documents and others’ from falling into the wrong hands while
the MFC is set up for polling. You can use Secure Polling only with another Brother fax machine.
Your four-digit ID number must be entered on the fax machine that polls for your documents.
Setup for Polling Receive
Polling Receive is when you call another fax machine to receive a fax from it.

want to poll, and then to press

Enter the fax number you are polling, and press

The screen displays DIALING #XX.
Polling is the process of retrieving faxes from another machine. You can use your
MFC to “poll” other machines, or you can have someone poll your MFC.
Some machines do not respond to the polling function.
