ENGINE

7. Place the oil pump in a vice and using a feeler

gauge:

. With a straight-edge across the pump body face,

check  the  clearance  between  the  rotors  and
straight-edge.  This  clearance  must  not  exceed
0-004 in (0-1  mm).

Check the clearance between the inner and outer

rotors. This must not exceed 0-010 in (0-25 mm).

Check the clearance between the outer rotor and

body. This must not exceed 0-008 in (0-2 mm).

8. Check the cover-plate for scoring, and test on a

surface plate for distortion. Renew if necessary.

9. Check the pump spindle bearing surface in the pump

body for excessive wear.

10. Reassemble the pump, fitting any new parts neces

sary to satisfy the above quoted tolerances. Renew
the complete pump if a satisfactory condition
cannot be achieved.
