Playback is not possible if the mobile tele‐
phone is connected via Bluetooth Audio and
via the USB interface or snap-in adapter at the
same time.
▷ Disconnect one of the two pairing connec‐
tions, for example disconnect audio con‐
nection, see page
58 , and restart playback.
If all the points on the list have been reviewed
and the desired function cannot be run, con‐
tact the Hotline or Service Centre.
Software update
General
Depending on the current software, the vehicle
supports different external devices. A software
update may be supported, for example, by a
new mobile telephone or new external devices
of the vehicle, which may improve compatibil‐
ity with the vehicle.
Updates and related, up-to-date information is
posted on the website at www.bmw.com/
update.
Showing current version
The information about the version of the soft‐
ware currently installed is displayed.

If an update has already been applied, select
the desired version to show additional informa‐
tion.
Updating software via USB
Do not attempt to update the software unless
the vehicle is at a standstill.
1. Store the file for the software update onto
a USB data store in the main folder.
2. Connect USB drive to USB interface for ex‐
ternal devices and switch on ignition.

8. "OK"
9. Wait for installation.
10. Switch off ignition and wait until the Con‐
trol Display is switched off.
Updating software via BMW
TeleServices
Software updates via BMW TeleServices are
country-specific and may be unavailable.
The software is first transferred to the vehicle
and can then be installed. The installation can
be performed at a different time from that of
the transfer.
It is possible to transfer the software when
travelling and is also automatically continued
after the trip is interrupted. The other functions
are available while the transmission is being
done. There must be mobile reception for the
transmission.
The installation of the software must only be
done when stationary.
