4.4 Moulds and fungi
Moulds and fungi are normal decomposing organisms in the
compost and should not be removed.
4.5 Flies and fly larvae
If the mass is too wet, there is a chance that the compost contains
flies. Follow the instructions provided in item 4.1. In addition,
turn the top layer of the compost deeper into the warmer layer of
the mass: fly larvae will die at the temperature of approximately
+43 degrees Celsius. Also add a layer of approximately 2 cm of
dry bulking agent on top. Ensure that any further meat and fish
scraps, in particular, are properly covered (or dug deeper in the
surface layers of the compost). You can also spray pesticide
containing pyrethrin as the active ingredient in the compost to
prevent flies. Contact your garden supply store for advice on
selecting a suitable product.
4.6 Ants
Ants are not harmful to the functioning of the compost. They
usually like to stay in the cooling-phase compost located at the
bottom of the bin.
• Ensure that the compost is not too dry.
• Emptying small amounts of compost regularly will stop the
ants from becoming too comfortable in their surroundings.
Product disposal
The materials the product is made of are indicated in the parts
list (p. 2). Dispose of each part appropriately. Always follow the
regional and collection-point specific instructions.

The Biolan Composter for Summer Cottage Use has a five-year
warranty.
1. The warranty is valid from the date of purchase and covers
possible defects in material and workmanship. The warranty
does not cover any indirect damage.
2. Biolan Oy reserves the right to either repair or replace
damaged parts at its discretion.
3. Any damage resulting from careless or forcible handling of
the device, failure to observe the operating instructions, or
from normal wear will not be covered by this warranty.

Biolan Suotis
Biolan Suotis is a biochemical filter for liquid
separated on the bottom of dry toilets and
the Composter for Summer Cottage Use. The
device purifies the seep liquid, which can then
be conducted directly to the nature. The filter
functions through gravity and needs no electricity.
