ENGINE DECK
T h e e n g i n e c o m p a r t m e n t d e c k s a r e
constructed of titanium, with aluminum
alloy support beams and serve as the lower
firewalls.
ENGINE FIRE DETECTION
Powerplant fire detection is accomplished
b y t w o i n d e p e n d e n t c o n t i n u o u s l o o p
detection systems, one on each engine
compartments' engine deck. Each system
h a s a w a r n i n g l i g h t a n d t e s t s w i t c h .
R e s i s t a n c e o f t h e s e m i - c o n d u c t o r
d e t e c t i o n e l e m e n t d e c r e a s e s w i t h
temperature rise, which allows current to
flow between the wire conductor and the
stainless steel tube, illuminating the engine
fire warning light.
