Tips for experienced players
1. Targeting several objects:
To increase the degree of difficulty, two discs can be placed in the centre of the board at the beginning of
the game.
2. Team game:
Form two teams, each consisting of four children. These teams play against each other. Every time one
of the teams has scored a point, they change over. This version of the game strengthens the feeling of
community and group cohesion.
3. Unlimited play (version for 2 players):
Players with more staying power can play without limiting the field. In this version, each player starts off
with ten metal balls. Can they still manage to get the disc into their target area?
Tips for kindergarten teachers and parents
Experiments on the topic of “rolling balls” (Age: +5):
This game is a good opportunity for the children to approach early physics with the topic of
“rolling balls”. For this, collect balls of various sizes and materials, e.g. metal, wood, foam,
glass, etc. in this way children can learn, for instance, that balls which are the same size
but made from different materials may not weigh the same, and may not roll at the same
speed.
You can also use the chutes, and compare the speeds when balls are rolled starting at
different heights.
Game of marbles (Age: 5+):
Metal balls or marbles open up various game possibilities.
For instance, you can define a starting and finishing line on the table. Coloured adhesive
tape or parcel tape is best for this. Each player is given one ball. Who will manage to roll it
from start to finish by flicking it once? If you use balls of different sizes made from different
materials for this game, you will be training the children’s fine motor skills and their percep-
tions in a play situation.
Blowing to propel metal balls (Age: 4+):
On the table, build a miniature track from building blocks, with a start and a finish. Then ask
one child to propel the ball from start to finish by blowing it. If children have had practice at
this they can even be timed with a stop-watch. The fastest player wins.
