In the one hand settings, you can assign the keys. See information
below. The last entries are two buttons to activate either the right-hand
mode or the left-hand mode.
Note: As soon as you quit the dialog with OK your one-hand settings are
activated and the braille keyboard does no longer react as before.
To deactivate the One-Hand mode uncheck the One Hand Mode check
box under Settings > Keyboard.
How the One-Hand Mode works
The functionality of the 10 braille keys are divided into 5 "left-side" and 5
"right-side" functions. You must first press the keys, which create the left
part of the character, and then the keys which create the right part of the
character.
You can execute the following functions:
1. 5 keys are needed to input the "left" and "right" braille dots.
2. 1 key is used for entering a "blank" key stroke (no left" or no "right"
dots)
3. The free other 4 keys can be used for the following functions:
a. Additional keys to enter a braille dot. (If necessary for
ergonomic reasons)
b. "Collecting key": When you press and hold this key, you can
press the single keys of the dots one after another. They are
interpreted as if they were pressed together. The collecting
key himself does not cause an input.
c. "Macro": this key is a combination of several Macro keys that
can create a braille figure. The user can define which braille
figure will be created, when pressing the macro key(s). A
maximum of 4 macro keys are possible and this leads to
maximum of 15 macro combinations.
d. "ignore": this key will not be interpreted.
e. Timeout for maximum time: If you press a "left" dot
combination without following with a "right" part, then the key
input will be ignored after the "Maximum time" and an error
sound is emitted. Predefined default is 2 Seconds.
f. "empty column": To raise up the input of characters, which
have no dots on the "right" part, you can press
simultaneously the "empty column" key together with the left
dots.
g. Double stroke: this software function can be used in the
same way and increases the input of blanks.
