3. Grounding concept
The functional ground is a current path with low impedance between isolated circuits and ground,
which is not a protective measure, but rather provides e.g. increased immunity to disturbances.
It serves only as disturbance dissipation and not as contact protection for persons.
The PPC800 functional ground has 2 connections:
• Supply voltage
• Ground connection
To guarantee secure dissipation of electric disturbances, the following points should be
observed:
• The device should be connected to the ground using the shortest route possible.
• Use cable with a minimum cross section of 2.5 mm
2
per connection.
Note the line shielding concept. All data cables connected to the device must use shielded lines.
