Aligning using electronic assist
Correct alignment can also be verified electronically. In the
main menu select
Diagnostic
Live to display a live image
of the current intensity distribution in the light band.

Signal normalizing and autoblanking
Before using the sensor, the light intensity must be normali-
zed on the receiver. To do this, execute the signal normali-
zation function.
The sensor selects the optimum scanning period during sig-
nal normalization.
Important:
– If the entire light band will be used, no object is
permitted to be located in the light band.
– Areas where objects are located during signal
normalizing are blanked out and are not taken into
account in the following operation (autoblanking).
– In case of autoblanking, the blanking settings remain
unchanged (see chapter 4.4).
– The display shows whether autoblanking was activated
by the last teach event. The autoblanking bar appears in
the start screen, see Fig. 5-1. For the IO-Link variants,
this is also shown in the process data.
After successful signal normalization, the sensor displays
the live image. This also shows which areas are blanked if
an object was in the light band during normalization.
If an object edge is in the autoblanking area
during normal operation, the edge of the auto-
blanking area is interpreted as an edge. This
can lead to a distortion of output values.
