11.2 Cover strip
To protect the magnetic tape from damage caused by
chips or chemicals, you may cover it using a stainless steel
cover strip. Note that the permissible air gap (see Tab. 4-2
on page 11 and Tab. 4-3 on page 12) between the
sensor head and tape is reduced by the thickness of the
cover strip with adhesive layer (0.15 mm).
Before affixing the cover strip, carefully clean the surface of
the magnetic tape (acetone, turpentine, mild plastic
cleaner, no benzine).
The cover strip can be ordered in 4 defined lengths on a
roll.
