Tracking the Blade
(continued)
If the blade is out more than 1/32” you will need to adjust the blade tracking. The tracking plates
are located behind each wheel and are labeled “T-adj” (for tracking adjustment).
Tracking adjustments should be made thinking of the tracking plate like a see-saw. When
making one side of the plate move in, the opposite side of the plate must move out. Not using
this concept results in flexing the tracking plate and not getting the full range of adjustment.
Moving the tracking plates should always be done using the pusher bolts. These are the two
outside bolts at each adjustment location. These bolts push against the plate located behind the
tracking plate.
Example: If you want to move the left side of the wheel (9:00 position) in, you will push the
right side (3:00 position) out.
To move the left side (9:00 position) in, loosen the pusher bolts at the 9:00 position, loosen the
center bolt at the 3:00 position, tighten the pusher bolts at the 3:00 position, and then tighten the
center bolt at the 9:00 position.
In some cases you may need to loosen the top and bottom bolts on the “L adj” (Lead adjustment)
on the side you are moving.
Rotate the idler wheel several rotations counter-clockwise and look at the blade gullet in relation
to the front face of the wheel. Continue to adjust and fine tune as necessary.
Once proper blade tracking as been achieved, re-tighten all tracking plate bolts on both wheels.
Note:
All adjustments are based on a center pivot point. For example, to move the blade “in” on the drive
wheel you will use the “right side” adjustment.
