Changing Blades
(Removal and Installation)
Power down the mill and lock-out/tag-out main electrical panel.
Release blade tension by venting the hydraulic pressure (see
Figure 35
on page 35).
Open the left and right cowling doors.
Pull down on the blade at the top, between the wheels, pulling the idler wheel toward the center.
Note:
If the blade was broken, manually push the idler wheel back toward the center of the cowling.
When the blade is loose enough to be removed, pull it off the wheels and out of the guides.
Put the new blade over the wheels and through the guides with the teeth facing forward and
pointing toward the pull wheel, or in the direction of the dust chute.
Align blade to the wheels.

Note:
A 1 ½” blade should be centered on the wheels the same distance from the gullet to the wheel
and back edge of the wheel to the back edge of the blade.
A 2” blade it should be centered on the wheels
with the gullet flush or no more than 1/32” past the front face of the wheels.
Set blade tension to the required pressure for the size of blade installed.

2” blade: 1,900 – 2,100 PSI
1 ½” blade - 1,700 PSI
Manually rotate the wheels counter-clockwise to ensure new blade is tracking properly.
Close the left and right cowling doors.
If equipped with de-barker option, replace the de-barker locking pin and cotter pin.
You are now ready to begin cutting material.
