Removal and exchange
Removal
Removal is only necessary when the device is to be
replaced or disposed of.
1.
Switch off the entire compressed air supply to the
affected system parts.
2.
Remove any devices that do not belong to the guided
slide unit.
3.
Remove all attachments and remove the guided slide
unit from the concerned part of the system.
4.
Pack the guided slide unit for transport or recycling.
5.
Install the replacement device according to the
description in the “Assembly” section.
Disposal
O
Dispose of the device in accordance with the currently
applicable regulations in your country. Among other
things, the GSU guided slide unit contains lubricating
grease that may pollute the environment.

Care and Maintenance
The GSU guided slide unit is maintenance-free, if used
within its technical specifications, and does not normally
require any particular service or maintenance.
Cleaning and servicing
CAUTION
Danger due to heavy objects!
During removal, the GSU guided slide unit could fall
down, which could pose a risk of injury or damage.
O
Before you remove the guided slide unit from its
brackets, make sure it cannot fall down.
NOTICE
Solvents and aggressive detergents may damage the
device.
If aggressive chemicals are used, the GSU guided slide
unit may be damaged or its service life may be
shortened.
O
Never use aggressive solvents or detergents.
2.
Make sure that the compressed air supply is shut off,
then connect the compressed air lines. Figure
shows the positions and functions of the connections.
3.
Make sure that all unused connections are properly
sealed with blanking plugs (

Setting the speed
Normally the speed is controlled by throttling the exhaust
air from the cylinder chambers with a throttle check valve.
When setting the speed, the guided slide unit must be
loaded as in normal operation and the speed must be
increased gradually to the desired operating speed.
1.
Make sure that the compressed air supply is zero to
both chambers and then slowly increase the
compressed air supply to the desired operating
pressure.
2.
Open the check-choke valve.
3.
Increase the piston speed gradually to the desired
operating speed (measure the speed if necessary).
To prevent uncontrolled release of the slide during
the approach, the pressure must be increased
slowly until the slide is in the right position.
CAUTION
Risk of injury or damage!
A guided slide unit operated without speed control can
reach high speeds and cause injuries or machine
failure.
O
Make sure that the guided slide unit is always
operated with speed control.
It is recommended to use the lowest possible
speed to achieve the longest possible service life
of the guided slide unit as well as the other
installed devices. The permissible maximum
speed for the GSU guided slide unit is 1.5 m/s.
