The following must be observed for the
GSU guided slide unit:
General information
W
Observe the regulations for accident prevention and
environmental protection in the country where the
product is used and at the workplace.
W
Do not modify or convert the GSU guided slide unit.
W
Only use the GSU guided slide unit within the
performance range provided in the technical data.
For more information, refer to the product catalog
(see www.aventics.com).
W
Never use the GSU guided slide unit as a handle or
step.
Do not place any objects on it.
During installation
W
Make sure that the relevant system parts are not under
pressure before you assemble or disassemble the GSU
guided slide unit.
W
When lifting the device, take steps to avoid damaging it.
Heavy objects must be carried by two people or by one
person with lifting aids.
W
Make sure that the GSU guided slide unit is completely
installed before connecting the compressed air lines.
W
Secure the system against reconnection if installation
is not complete and you need to leave the installation
unattended.
W
Lay the cables so that no one can trip over them.
During commissioning
W
Make sure that all the compressed air connections are
properly connected and sealed.
W
When commissioning the product, increase the
pressure slowly and use the speed control. The
maximum permissible slide speed is 1.5 m/s.
During operation
W
In certain applications and installation arrangements,
there may be a risk of crush injuries. Always follow the
site safety instructions.
W
If the GSU guided slide unit is not properly secured,
people may be injured or other parts of the system may
be damaged due to parts moving uncontrollably or
becoming detached. Check carefully that the GSU
guided slide unit and any connected parts are properly
secured.
W
With a vertical mounting orientation of the product, a
suspended load can fall down when the compressed
air supply is switched off. This could pose a risk of
injury or damage. Always secure the area below a
suspended load.
During cleaning
W
Never use aggressive solvents or detergents. Never
hose down the GSU guided slide unit. Only clean the
GSU guided slide unit using a slightly damp cloth.
Only use water and, if necessary, a mild detergent.
Disposal
W
Dispose of the device in accordance with the currently
applicable regulations in your country.

Applications
The GSU guided slide unit is used for the stable linear
movement of objects in industry applications. A typical
application is the movement and control of various objects
in different directions in the manufacturing industry,
especially areas requiring high precision approaching
multiple fixed positions.
The GSU guided slide unit is available in two piston sizes:
16 mm and 25 mm, with different stroke lengths in
100 mm increments. The stroke length and end position
can be set exactly.
The GSU guided slide unit is an “Easy-2-Combine” system
component. This means it can be installed with other
AVENTICS system components, enabling users to
assemble compact systems made of multiple units.
The GSU guided slide unit can be installed both
horizontally and vertically. It has minimal installation
dimensions.
Other characteristics:
W
For maximum flexibility, the compressed air supply
can be connected both axially and radially to both or
only one cylinder end.
W
Integrated shock absorbers with ultra-precise stop
and end position approach
W
Electromagnetic sensors can be installed where
required for flexible position sensing.

Product overview
The GSU guided slide unit is available in two piston sizes:
16 mm and 25 mm. In addition to the different piston
sizes, the two versions also have different guide rail types:
with a piston size of 16 mm, type BRL 15 mini is used,
while piston size 25 mm uses type BRL 15 Standard.
In addition, the compressed air connections for piston size
16 mm are size M5, while those for piston size 25 mm
have the size G 1/8.
The compressed air can be connected both axially and
radially to only one cover or to both covers. See
“Connecting the compressed air supply”.
The GSU guided slide unit can be individually
configured with the AVENTICS online configurator.
At the time of configuration, an individual order
number is created. This number corresponds
exactly to the configuration delivered.
