Single site with a dedicated "control" network connected
Figure 87: Single site with a dedicated control network connected
This design connects all Avaya media servers and IPSIs to a dedicated control network. With
CLANS and MedPros are connected to a separate voice VLAN. Additional separation from the
infrastructure can be achieved by using a separate isolated media server for the dedicated
control network providing resiliency from spanning tree calculations and DoS attacks that could
potentially bring down a media server connected to the enterprise infrastructure.
This design is typical in large single-site deployments. Firewalls are often used to provide
additional security.
Advantages: - Provides a control point to limit traffic allowed on the control network. An
additional media server can provide protection against utilization failures.
Disadvantages: - Requires an additional VLAN or dedicated media server/router interface.
