Inspection
Daily Inspection
•
The welcome screen starts up correctly.
•
The current prism temperature is displayed correctly.
•
Zero-setting with purified water and measurements in the Brix or nD scale are normal.
Regular Inspection
Test a sucrose solution every 1-2 months in MODE-1 at 20.00℃. Make a solution within the concentration
range that is used most frequently.
10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% sucrose solutions are available for purchase from ATAGO (see page 67
"Optional Add-ons and Consumable Items").
It is recommended to keep the inspection records.
1.
Zero-set with purified water at room temperature.
2.
Take about 5 measurements of the same drop of a sucrose solution.
3.
If the measurement values are within the accuracy range of
±
0.01% (RX-5000i-Plus) or
±
0.03%
(RX-5000i) or
±
0.1% (RX-7000i), the instrument is functioning properly. If the measurement values are
not within the above accuracy range, take the accuracy of the sucrose solution itself into consideration.
The methods of creating and measuring the solution were correct.
4.
If measurement values continue to be off, contact ATAGO.
※
How to make a standard sucrose solution (20.00%)
1.
Necessary items
•
20.00g sucrose of highest grade.
•
80.00g purified water
•
Scale (weighing capacity of 200g or higher, accuracy
±
0.005g or higher)
•
Beaker (capacity of 100ml, made of glass or polyethylene)
•
Spoon (made of plastic)
2.
Procedure
(1)
After placing the beaker, zero-set the scale.
(2)
Place the sucrose in the beaker.
(3)
Add the purified water to the sucrose. Make sure that the total weight is 100.00g.
(4)
Take the beaker off the scale and stir the solution well until all the sucrose is completely dissolved.
Precautions
※
The room temperature should 20℃ ±5℃.
※
Follow the above procedures to create 30.00, 40.00, and 50.00% sucrose solutions. (Stir a 50.00%
solution particularly well as it will take longer for it to become homogenous than lower
concentrations.)
※
The concentration is expressed in weight percent (w/w %).
※
Create sucrose solutions no less than 100.00g in total weight for optimum accuracy.
※
Keep sucrose solutions in air tight containers.
※
Purchase high-grade sucrose from your local reagent store or pharmacy.
