8. Microsoft Windows NT Driver Installation
Adding or Replacing a SCSI host adapter:
NOTE: Windows NT requires that software drivers be loaded before
proceeding with any hardware installation.
If there is currently a SCSI host adapter installed in your system and it is not
manufactured by ASUS Corporation, then you must follow these steps for
proper installation:
1
Before installing the PCI-SIU2 card itself, load the ASUS drivers for
Windows NT. The driver is located on the PCI-SIU2 DRIVER DISK 1.
Follow the instructions in the previous section labeled New Windows
NT Installation.
2
Shut down the computer.
3
Install the PCI-SIU2 card in a slot other than that of the currently oc-
cupied PCI SCSI slot.
4
Reboot the computer.
5
Shut down the computer again (this allows the drivers to recognize the
card).
6
Attach all cables/devices from previous SCSI card to Initio’s PCI-SIU2.
7
If replacing, go into SCSI properties and remove drivers of old SCSI
card.
8
It is highly recommended that you verify the ASUS PCI-SIU2 Win-
dows NT device driver has been properly installed by selecting MY
COMPUTER from the desktop. Then select CONTROL PANEL:
•
Select SCSI ADAPTERS from within the CONTROL PANEL
group,
•
Select PCI SCSI Host Adapter from within the SCSI CONTROL-
LERS listing. If “This device is working properly” is displayed
on your screen, the driver has been correctly installed.
