4 Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning and care in outpatient
and inpatient care
4.1.1 General information
Health risks associated with handling of
infectious agents or pathogens
Infectious agents and pathogens in
the aspirate cause health risks.
• Never operate the device without an
external bacterial filter. (exception:
ASSKEA disposable secretion canis-
ter system)
• Replace the external bacterial filter
prior to each new patient or at least
every two weeks when used exclu-
sively for one patient, if it is used
frequently. (exception: ASSKEA dis-
posable secretion canister system)
• Reuse of bacterial filters for multip-
le patients is prohibited for hygiene
and safety reasons!
• Wear appropriate disposable gloves
when replacing components that
have come into contact with the as-
pirate.
• Replace the disposable liner ‘One-
Way‘ and suction tube in accordance
with the respectively applicable hy-
giene instructions, no less than once
3. Remove the suction tube (fig. 1(J)) from
the aspiration catheter and from the sec-
retion canister and clean (see section 4.1.6
or 4.2.6) and dispose it of (see section 6.3)
properly.
4. Remove the disposable liner ‘OneWay‘ as
described in section 3.4 up to and inclu-
ding point 5. Then remove the external
canister ‘Bag‘ from the belonging holder.
Pull the holder for the external canister
‘Bag‘ off the guide rails on the device and
follow the instructions for cleaning the
external canister ‘Bag‘ in section 4.1.5 or
4.2.5. If you are using the reusable secre-
tion canister system, pull the reusable se-
cretion canister off the guide rails on the
device and then follow the instructions for
cleaning or disposing of the components
of the reusable secretion canister system
described in section 4.1.3 or 4.2.3 and
4.1.4 or 4.2.4.
5. Clean the surface of the device according
to section 4.1.2 or 4.2.2.
6. Store the device in the shipping carton un-
til next use.

GmbH or an authorized service
partner of ASSKEA GmbH is strictly
required! Follow the information in
section 4.3.
• After each aspiration procedure all
components that have come into

• Disposal of aspirate and contamina-
ted components must be performed
in a proper manner.

clothing during disinfection is re-
commended.
• Follow the instructions of the manu-
facturer of the disinfectant.
Possible bodily injury due to electric
shock
• Switch off the device prior to
cleaning/disinfection.
• Disconnect the power supply unit
by unplugging it from the mains
supply. Then disconnect the power
supply unit from the socket for po-
