CHECKING AND TOPPING UP
WARNING
Wait for the engine to cool down before
checking or topping up coolant level.
u
Stop the engine and wait until it has
cooled down.
NOTE
Position the vehicle on firm and
flat ground.
u
Open the helmet
compartment under the seat.
u
Unscrew the two screws (1)
and remove inspection cover (2).
u
Open the glove compartment and
r e l e a s e t h e s t o p r o d s m o d e r a t e l y
pressing down.
u
Remove the left inspection cover
prising the top tab open.
u
Make sure that the level of the fluid
contained in the expansion tank (3) is
included between the "
MIN
" and "
MAX
"
marks.
MIN
= minimum level.
MAX
= maximum level
If not so:
u
Loosen the filler plug (4) (by turning it
anticlockwise), without removing it.
u
Wait a few seconds in order to release
any residual pressure.
u
Unscrew and remove the cap (4).
WARNING
Coolant is toxic when ingested. Contact
with eyes or skin may cause irritation.
Do not put your fingers or any other object
into the filler opening in order to ensure
that there is coolant.
CAUTION
Never top up beyond the "MAX" level mark
or coolant will leak out when the engine is
running.

Top up with coolant, see page 79
(LUBRICANT CHART) up to just below
the "
MAX
" mark.
u
Refit the filler plug (4).
CAUTION
If coolant level drops too quickly or the
tank is empty, check the cooling circuit
for leaks. Have the repair carried out at
an
aprilia
Authorised dealer.
u
Refit the inspection cover, ensure it is
correctly secured.
