Services
The Services page (FIG. 32) allows you to change the device name, the default device port settings, the
TCP keep-alive parameters, and the extra port offset.

Services
Device Name The name of the device on the network.
Link Local Name The local name for the device on the network.
HTTP Port The HTTP port number for the device. The default is 80.
Telnet Port The Telnet port number for the device. The default is 23.
Daytime Port This is used to get the elapsed time that the interface has been running. To get
the elapsed time, you need to open a TCP/IP connection to the interface on
port 13 and read the data from that port. The easiest way to do this is to run the
Telnet program with port 13.
Discard Port This throws away any TCP/IP data that is sent to it. This is used mostly for
speed testing. The default port for discard is 9.
UDP Serial Port Used for internal use only. This MUST be set to 9131.
TCP Keep-Alive The keep-alive mechanism will terminate network connections if a computer is
not reachable for a certain period of time.
Idle Time Specifies the amount of time in seconds to wait before sending a probe packet
to determine if the other end is still active. The default value is 30.
Retry Interval Specifies the amount of time in seconds between successive probe packets.
The default is 10.
Retry Count Specifies the number of times probe packets will be retried before the
connection is terminated. The default value is 3.
Extra port offset The extra port offset number.
