Modifying BIOS Settings
3-13
IDE Geometry
Most of the time the open controller can automatically determine the settings on a hard
drive. Use this setting to tell the open controller to automatically configure the installed
drives you specified in the Drive Assignments field.
Default:
3=AUTOCONFIG, LBA
Use this selection for drives greater than
512 Mbytes
You have these additional selections:
Not Installed
1=User Type
Use this selection to manually enter the drive size
2=AUTOCONFIG, PHYSICAL
Use this only if the drive you are using requires
this setting
4=AUTOCONFIG, CHS
Use this selection for drives smaller than
512 Mbytes (the CompactFlash falls into this
category)
Boot Order
This is the order the BIOS uses to find a bootable drive.
Default for Boot 1st and Boot 2nd:
(None)
You can choose to boot first from Drive A: or Drive C:
Typically, set the order to:
Boot 1st: >Drive A:
Boot 2nd: >Drive C:
This allows the open controller to boot from the C: drive first unless it detects a bootable
floppy in drive A:. (The bootable device, other than a bootable floppy, must be configured
to drive C:)
Typematic Delay
Default:
250 ms
Sets the delay before a key begins repeating, if it is held down
Typematic Rate
Default:
30 cbs
Sets number of characters per second displayed, if a key is held down
Show “Hit Del”
Default:
Enabled
Sets whether you see the “Hit <Del> if you want to run SETUP”
prompt at system boot up
Config Box
Default:
Enabled
Sets whether the current BIOS settings are displayed at
system boot up
F1 Error Wait
Default:
