Loading Windows NT on your 1747-OCF Open Controller
Setting up a
hostsvr
connection
Setting up a
hostsvr
connection maps the floppy drive of the PC as the
floppy drive of the open controller.
1. Attach the open controller serial cable (1747-OCSBC) from COM2 of
the open controller to one of the COM ports on your PC, using a serial
adapter (1747-OCS92) to convert the RJ45 connector to a 9 pin D-shell.
2. Boot the remote PC to DOS.
3. Start
hostsvr
by inserting the open controller utility disk into the PC
floppy drive and typing on the keyboard connected to the open
controller:
A:\hostsvr /COM
x
where:
x is the COM port to which the serial cable is attached
4. Remove the open controller utility disk from the floppy drive and
replace with MS-DOS setup disk 1 of 3.
5. Using the keyboard connected to the open controller, boot the open
controller and enter BIOS setup by pressing
[delete]
.
Important:
Once
hostsvr
is running, do not use the keyboard that is
connected to the PC. This will cancel the
hostsvr
connection.
Pressing
[delete]
continuously as the open controller boots does
no damage and guarantees that you will enter setup.
