PC Programming Functions
In this chapter we describe the major functions, which can be programmed by the PC
programmer cable set with the PC software
Albrecht DB275 version.
The programming kit is intended to be used by distributors or authorized users, who try to make the
user functions as simple as possible. Main purpose of the software is also to reduce the functions to
those, which are really necessary for untrained users. So PC software is mainly applied when
preparing a radio for restricted use as professional radio, PMR 446 radio or Freenet radio.
Channels instead of frequencies
The main important programming of any radio for use within a group is the programming of fixed
channels instead of free accessible frequencies. The PC programmer allows the installer to
program exactly the number of channels which in most cases (untrained) users really need. By PC
programming, the installer can avoid overloading functions and accidental maladjustments.
DCS/CTCSS
Software allows easy programming of code tones for the Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System
(CTCSS) or DCS (digital coded squelch) for each channel separately.
If a channel is programmed with CTCSS or DCS code, communication can only be received if the
distant party will use exactly the same setting. Your receiver will remain muted if users with no or
other CTCSS / DCS codes are on the channel. You can only see at the yellow LED that the channel
is busy. The DCS / CTCSS system offers a certain privacy, it helps users in so far that they are not
disturbed by other conversations on a channel, but it is not possible to hide a transmission (unless
