Safety instructions
Important - Danger of accident
When loading your vehicle, pay attention to the permissible rear axle load and sufficient front axle load.
Failure to do so can lead to malfunctions in electronic driving dynamic control systems (e.g. ESP).
IMPORTANT: Only have the installation carried out by an authorised specialist workshop and inform the specialist workshop you
have appointed that the AL-KO Customer Service department must be contacted directly in the event of any questions regarding pro-
fessional installation.
All screws must be re-tightened with the prescribed torques after approx. 50 to 100 km of travel.
When installing or loading the load carrier, always engage the handbrake and secure the vehicle against
rolling away
.
No luggage or cargo may protrude beyond the side of the carrier or the vehicle.
Endangerment of other road users must be excluded.
Observe the national and
statutory national regulations regarding load.
The lighting and the registration number on the carrier must not be obscured by the load
.
Luggage or bicycles must be securely fixed in place. The centre of gravity of the load should be in the centre of the platform
.
This is the responsibility of the driver.
Lashing straps can lose their tension due to the effects of travel and weather.
Check that your cargo is firmly seated at
regular intervals.
Attaching and loading the load carrier can change the driving behaviour of your vehicle, especially when cornering and on uneven road surfaces (e.g. when
driving over potholes, uneven ground or railway tracks).
Therefore, drive at a speed adapted to the vehicle and load.
Important: An extended overhang will cause the rear of the vehicle to swing further out.
When loading your vehicle, ensure that the steering capability on the front axle is maintained.
The basic vehicle manufacturers often prescribe a minimum front axle load. Ask your
vehicle manufacturer.
Before starting the journey, check the axle loads.
Please take into account your luggage in the vehicle and
the passengers.
Before driving, check the electrical lighting of the load carrier.
Remove the carrier if no luggage is being transported.
The simultaneous use of trailer coupling and carrier is not permitted.
