replacing
the
assemblies
in
the
Agilent
11896A
polarization
controller
.
T
o
replace
an
assembly:
Locate
the
desired
assembly
in
Figure
5-1.
F
ollow
the
steps
for
removing
the
desired
assembly
.
Replace
the
assembly
.
Reassemble
the
polarization
controller
by
reversing
the
procedure
.
When
replacing
the
polarization
controller
,
center
the
optical
connectors
with
the
dress
panel
holes
.
Refer
to
Figure
5-1
for
the
location
of
the
assembly
level
replaceable
parts
.
Refer
to

able

for
a
list
of
the
part
numbers
of
the
replaceable
assemblies
and

replace
the
front-panel
assembly
1.
Remove
the
machine
screw
on
the
rear
of
the
handle
.
2.
Remove
the
top
cover
.
3.
Gently
unplug
the
three
connectors
attached
to
the
polarization
assembly
.
T
ake
care
not
to
bend
the
pins
.
4.
Remove
the
ribbon
cable
from
the
rear
of
the
polarization
assembly
.
5.
Remove
the
eight
screws
from
the
side
panels
,
four
on
each
side
,
using
the
small
T
orx
driver
.
6.
Remove
both
side
panels
.
7.
Cut
the
tie-wrap
securing
the
cables
to
the
side
frame
.
8.
Remove
the
four
screws
from
the
front-panel
assembly
using
the
small
T
orx
driver
.
9.
Remove
the
front-panel
assembly
.
