Chapter 2: Installation and Configuration
2.1. Unpacking the Chassis
Visually inspect the container of the Npaq for any evidence of shipping damage. If any such damage exists,
notify the shipping carrier immediately.
D A N G E R : All electronic equipment and instrumentation are wrapped in antistatic material
and packaged with desiccant. Ensure that the antistatic material is not damaged during
unpacking.
Remove the packing list from the Npaq container. Make sure that all the items specified on the packing list
are contained within the package.
D A N G E R : Cables should not be connected to or disconnected from the Npaq drive chassis
while power is applied, nor should any drive modules be removed or inserted into it with power
applied. Doing so may cause damage to the system or its components.
Also provided with the Npaq is a documentation package on the installation device, containing manuals,
interconnection drawings, and other documentation pertaining to the Npaq system. This information should
be saved for future reference. Additional information about the Npaq system is provided on the Serial and
Power labels that are placed on the Npaq chassis.
The system serial number label contains important information such as the:

Customer order number (please provide this number when requesting product support)
l
Drawing number
l
System part number
The Npaq power label contains the factory configured AC power requirements.
D A N G E R : The AC power label must be changed if the AC Input Voltage is reconfigured.
