GadgetGateway Serial Interface
Each twin stores the subnet/node address of the other’s 709 interfaces. On a new router the
twin 709 subnet/node addresses are set to zeros. A router will not accept sync for the 709
interface subnet/net addresses. This prevents someone from inadvertently erasing the sub-
net/node address with a sync. However if a router is configured for Twin mode and then
later re-purposed for use with a different Twin, syncing could overwrite valid subnet/node
address with stale data. This menu option allows one to reset the twin 709 configuration to
its pristine state. This can also be accomplished by resetting all configuration data in the
Tools menu. To clear Twin 709 configuration data select [C] from the Twin Mode Config-
uration Menu and press ENTER.
4.10.54 Enable/Disable Twin Mode
Select [E] from the menu and press ENTER to enable twin mode.
Select [D] from the menu and press ENTER to enable twin mode.
When the Twin mode has been enabled this option will read [D] Disable Twin Mode. To
disable twin mode select D and press enter. When the Twin Mode has been disabled this
option will read [E] Enable twin mode. To enable Twin Mode select E and press enter.
Once Twin Mode is enabled the router will start sending monitoring packets and auto-
matic sync packets to its twin. Once both routers are in twin mode they will arbitrate and
only one will be active with respect to sending monitoring and sync packets.
4.10.55 Twin Mode Status Menu
To access the Twin Mode Status Menu, select [S] from the Twin Mode Configuration
Menu and press ENTER. This menu contains additional a status display of the Twin mode
operational state, failure and alarm conditions and statistics.
