Field-installing Horn Bypass kit

Jaw positioning
The 5
th
jaw is factory installed in the 9 o’clock position on all
RINGLESS meter-modules.
The 5
th
jaw RM5THJAW can be ordered separately and installed
on 4-JAW RING-TYPE meter-modules.
To change position of 5
th
jaw from 9 o’clock to 6 o’clock:
1.
Untighten and remove the four 5/16 -18 Hex-nuts
2. Remove the spring lock-washer and flat-washer.
3. Remove the 4 horn bypasses
4. Place the four flat-washers on the meter-jaw busbar, and
then the 4 spring-lockwashers
5.
Tighten the four hex-nuts to 170 in-lbf
Loosen the mounting screw.
Rotate 5th jaw to 6 o’clock.
Tighten screw to 25 in-lbf.

Lever bypass function
Installing or replacing Meter in a Lever Bypass Meter-Module
Caution: to be performed by authorized service personnel
use appropriate protective equipment for working with live
electrical equipment
1. Remove the ringless meter-cover
CAUTION: LIVE PARTS ARE ACCESSIBLE
2. Rotate lever upwards, to activate the bypass, and unclamp
the meter-jaws
3. Remove the meter that needs to be replaced, if applicable
4. Place the new meter in the meter-socket
5. Rotate lever downwards to clamp the meter-jaws and
disactivate the bypass
6. Replace the ringless meter-cover
NOTE: Meter-cover cannot be installed, with the lever in the bypass mode.

Horn-Bypass catalogue number RHORNBYPASS can be
ordered separately, and field installed.
1.
Untighten and remove the four 5/16 -18 Hex-nuts
2. Remove the spring lock-washer and flat-washer.
3. Install the four horn bypasses.
Caution:
Assure connection tang is towards outside of
meter-socket (refer to image)
4. Place the four flat-washers on the horn-bypass, and then
the spring-lock-washer and the hex-nut.
5.
Tighten the four hex-nuts to 170 in-lbf
