
1.3.2 Moving robots are potentially lethal
Description
Any moving robot is a potentially lethal machine.
When running, the robot may perform unexpected and sometimes irrational
movements. Moreover, all movements are performed with great force and may
seriously injure any personnel and/or damage any piece of equipment located
within the working range of the robot.

Emergency stop equipment such as gates,
tread mats, light curtains, etc.
Before attempting to run the robot, make
sure all emergency stop equipment is cor-
rectly installed and connected.

Usually the hold-to-run function is active
only in manual full speed mode. To in-
crease safety it is also possible to activate
hold-to-run for manual reduced speed with
a system parameter.

The hold-to-run function is used in manual
mode, not in automatic mode.
Make sure no personnel are present within
the working range of the robot before
pressing the start button.
