Chapter 2: Hardware Installation

External Reset Kit

The external reset kit (3e-RK1) is an accessory for the 3e–525A–3. You

can use this device to reboot the unit or reset the unit to its factory de-

fault.

CAUTION

: The 3e–RK1 should be available to and used by an autho-

rized Crypto Offi cer only.

The following picture shows the 3e–RK1. The 3e–RK1 consists of one

RED Ethernet cable, one reset dongle, and one Ethernet pigtail. When the

3e–RK1 is in use, it replaces the BLUE Ethernet cable supplied with the

3e–525A–3 that is used for confi guration purposes.

Connect one end of the RED Ethernet cable provided with the 3e–RK1

to the LAN "LOCAL" port on the 3e–525A–3. Connect the RJ-45 end of

this cable to the AP side of the reset dongle. Connect one end of the Eth-

ernet pigtail to the PC side of the dongle, and connect the other end to the

laptop to be used for confi guring the 3e–525A–3.

To reboot the 3e–525A–3, push and hold the reset button for fi ve sec-

onds (input is acknowledged by the WLANSS LED turning on). After fi ve

seconds, release the button and the unit will reboot.

To reset the 3e–525A–3 to its factory default settings, push and hold

the reset button for ten seconds. The WLANSS LED will turn off adn the

unit wil be reset to its factory default settings.
