You can configure a port so that it sends a trap to a
network management application when the status of
the link changes (for example, if a device is
connected to or disconnected from the port), or
when the port partitions. You can also configure a
port to store the source address of frames received
by the port, this enables you to detect which
devices are attached to each port of the hub.
To configure a port:

From the
View
menu, select
Zoom In
to display the
representation of the hub.

Double-click on the port you want to configure.

In the Port
Configuration
dialog box, choose the
Info
category.
Quick Config Manager displays the Repeater Port Info
panel, as shown in
Figure 4-11
.

In the Repeater Port Info panel, select either Enable
or Disable for Port State.
If the port is part of a resilient link, you cannot enable
or disable the port. You must first delete the resilient
link, see
“Resilience” on page 4-33
.
