Installation
8.1. Firmware version and limitation
Before installation of your ATEUS
®
- BLUESTAR Gateway please make upload of new FW
to the GW. Actual version of the FW + all SW you find on enclosed CD, or on our website
FIRMWARE uploading procedure:

Connect your PC to BLUESTAR via RS232 (serial port)

Prepare the firmware-containing file into a folder selected by you (
Pxxxx-V-xx.xx.xx.bin).

Run BLUESTAR program

In the menu “Gateway control” choose item “Upload firmware”

Choose file containing new firmware (Pxxxx-V-xx.xx.xx.bin)

The program now automatically uploads your new firmware (it’s takes about 2 minutes)
– the gateway is reset during this procedure (thus discontinues all current calls and
SMS). Do not interrupt the program during this procedure to avoid errors in firmware
uploading – otherwise the gateway might stop working!
If procedure of uploading firmware was terminated, please make cool reset of the gateway
and re-load BLUESTAR program and try to upload firmware again.
Firmware limitation:
The gateway’s firmware is from factory locked for
850 hour
(c. 35 days, every reset of gateway
will add one hour !). After this time the gateway will block the Layer 3 (signallization layer) on
the PRI interfaces !!!
Actual status of limit you can see in status line of connected BLUEGATE program.
Please contact 2N sales before end of this period. We will send to you unlock key string for
unlock the firmware.
FIRMWARE unlocking procedure:

Connect your PC to BLUESTAR via RS232, ISDN DATA, TCP/IP

Make cool reset of the gateway

Run BLUESTAR program

In the menu „Gateway control“ choose item „Set keylock“

Insert correct unlock key (bad unlock key will make block of the gateway!! )

Wait for restart of gateway

In status line of BLUESTAR program you can check actual status of firmware limitation.
8.2. BLUESTAR Installation Conditions
The following conditions must be met during BLUESTAR installation:

appropriate location (enough free space);
-
GSM signal intensity (minimum signal level
: –80db
). As GSM signal intensity meter you can
use NETmonitor on some mobile phone (e.g. Nokia)

un-overloadable GSM cells into which GSM gate modules are logged (please keep in mind
that BLUESTAR in full traffic will make 16 calls in one time !
