Regardless of your particular situation, do not create an arbitrary IP address;
always follow the guidelines above. For more information on address assignment,

3.4 Factory
Ethernet
Defaults
The Ethernet parameters of the Prestige are preset in the factory with the following values:
IP address of 192.168.1.1 with subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (24 bits).
3.5 TCP/IP Ethernet Setup
This section describes how to configure the Ethernet using
Menu 3 – Ethernet Setup
. From the main menu,
enter 3 to open menu 3.

Your Prestige will automatically calculate the subnet mask based on
the IP address that you assign. Unless you are implementing
subnetting, use the subnet mask computed by the Prestige
255.255.255.
