“Installing” and Running the Program
The Model 25 Configuration Program is distributed as a DOS executable file on a CD-ROM
disk. To utilize the Model 25 Configuration Program, copy the executable (M25CONF.EXE)
into a folder on the hard drive of your PC. This makes the program available all the time and
you will have a ready folder in which to save any text or configuration files it creates. (Text
files and configuration files are saved to whatever disk/folder location the program is running
from.)
On a PC running Windows, once you have copied the program onto your hard drive, you can
start it using the RUN option from the START menu or create a desktop short cut for it. The
program should automatically open an MS-DOS window to run in.
Once started, the program defaults to the computer’s COM1: port and attempts to
communicate with the Model 25 at 4800 baud. If the Model 25 does not respond, the
program will try again at 600 baud and again at 150 baud in an attempt to determine at which
rate the Model 25 is currently set. Once the proper baud rate has been determined, the edit
screen will be displayed with the proper baud rate, Model 25 software version, and
Configuration program software revision.
If the computer was unsuccessful in communicating with the Model 25, the prompt below
will be displayed:
“Model 25 not responding, press RESET and try again”
An unsuccessful attempt to communicate may result for a number of reasons including:
Connection to the wrong COM: port (see “Setting the COM: Port and Baud Rate”)
Incorrect cable assembly
Computer serial port failure
Having the Model 25 Program Enable/Disable Switch set to the “Disable” position.
Manually Setting the COM: Port and Baud Rate
Under most conditions, the Configuration program may be started by simply running the
executable, as is. In this case, the program defaults to the COM1: port and tries all three
possible baud rates to determine at which rate the Model 25 is currently set.
