Information about the high voltage cable
The high voltage cable is the electrical connection between the high
voltage generator and the X-ray tube. Due to the high voltage of 225
kV, it is necessary to lubricate the cable when mounting it to the genera-
tor and X-ray tube and to mount it with a pretension of 6 mm. This
process is required each time the maintenance of the CT system is car-
ried out because the lubricant is used up due to heating. The cable is
considered a wear part because it loses its high voltage stability after 8
to 10 maintenance services due to constant pre-tension and releasing.
After two to three years, depending on the degree of utilization of the
CT system, the cable can abruptly lose its high voltage stability during
maintenance and has to be replaced.
