1. Loosen the two wing bolts (Figure 4, (1)) on the
top of the air cleaner and remove the air cleaner
cover
(Figure 4, (2)) .
2. Remove the air cleaner filter element
(Figure 5, (1)) .

3. Blow air through the element from the inside out
using 42-71 psi (0.29
−
0.49 MPa, 3.0

) compressed air to remove the
particulates. Use the lowest possible air
pressure to remove the dust without damaging
the element.
4. Replace the element with a new one if it is
damaged, excessively dirty or oily.
5. Clean inside of the air cleaner cover and case.
Cover the suction port with a cloth while
cleaning to prevent foreign objects from falling
into the intake manifold.
6. Install the element into the air cleaner case.
7. Install the air cleaner cover and replace the
cover.
8. Insert the two wing bolts into the air cleaner
cover (Figure 4, (2)) and tighten the wing bolts
(Figure 4, (1)) .

FLYING OBJECT HAZARD!
• ALWAYS wear eye protection when
servicing the engine and when using
compressed air or high-pressure
water. Dust, flying debris, compressed
air, pressurized water, or steam may
injure your eyes.
• Failure to comply may result in minor
or moderate injury.

CAUTION
• When the engine is operated in dusty
conditions, clean the air cleaner
element more frequently.
• NEVER operate the engine with the air
cleaner element(s) removed. This may
cause foreign material to enter the
engine and damage it.
