Figure 8: Misaligned Trinity Polarizer Image Splitting
To align the three images and obtain a clear 3D image on the screen a combination of adjusting the zoom on the projector, main image scale
adjustment on the unit and vertical and horizontal adjusting of the two split images on the unit is needed. To make adjusting of the images
easier it is suggested that a suitable 3D calibration image is used.
Many 3D calibration images exist and any one of them can be used for calibration of the Trinity Polarizer. However some images are more
appropriate than others. It is suggested that XPAND’s dedicated 3D calibration image shown in
Figure 12
is used for calibrating the Trinity
Polarizer. When using this calibration image, three images shown in
Figure 9, 10, and 11
are projected onto the screen. In order to calibrate
the system all images must be aligned in a way that when superimposed on the screen, image shown in
Figure 12
is obtained. Note that
the “R” and “L” signs can be reversed, depending on the 3D Sync Polarity setting on the projector or the Trinity Polarizer.
