3.54 Fax and Copy Operations
Polling Reception
With polling reception, you can receive documents from an
unattended remote fax machine.

OTE
: The remote machine must also support polling to use
this feature.

Press the OHD/V.Req button or pick up the handset and
when you hear a dial tone, dial the remote fax machine.

When you finish dialing, press the Advanced FAX
button. Then, “RECEIVE POLLING?” appears.

Press the Start/Enter button. The display asks you for a
4-digit code. Poll code ‘0000’ represents no code.

If the remote machine is secured with a poll code, you
must enter the correct code, and press
the Start/Enter
button.
Or,
If the remote machine is not secured with a poll code,
press
the Start/Enter button to accept [0000] which
represents no code.

The machine begins to receive polling.

OTES
:
• To cancel the operation, press the Stop button at any
time.
• Not all fax machines have polling capability, and polling
incompatibility can occur between different
manufacturers.
• If a poll code other than 0000 is used, polling will be
restricted to WorkCentre Pro 580’s only.
