PRINTING WITH THE 4213

•

autoconnect: Serial interface - in the auto disconnect mode,
the interface is disconnected from the host when:

—The communication line is inactive for more than 30
seconds.
—The modem connected to the printer cancels a Data Set
Ready (DSR) it previously set.

Parallel interface (Metered Data) - When used with a personal
computer, printer timeout messages do not appear on the
screen; therefore, this mode should be enabled if the host
requires an immediate report on the state of the printer.

5. Available Emulations: Lists the other resident, cartridge,

and PDL board emulations currently residing on the 4213
laser printer. It reports the version levels of the installed
printer software.

Review the information listed on the configuration sheet to
determine if the current settings are satisfactory.

Printing a font status sheet

The font status sheet gives a listing of all the available fonts for a
selected emulation. There is a minimum of eight sheets of font
list printed but a single sheet sample is shown in figure 4-3.

Note: The font status sheet, unlike the configuration sheet, can
be printed from the bypass. The font status sheet is printed only
in simplex. The LaserJet IID, however, can print the font status
sheet in duplex.

Printing an XES font status sheet

Make sure the display reads EMULATION/XES*, then use the
display buttons to select your desired language translation table.
Press the Online

H

button to put the printer online (so your

choice will take effect), then press the button again to take the
4213 off line. Next press the Test

B

button to access the Test

Menu. Press the Last Page

C

button to display TEST MENU/FONT

STATUS. Now press the Select

D

button to print the font status

sheet. After the pages are printed, press the Online

H

button to

put the printer online again.
